Inspired by his own The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon performance of her single So Much Fun “Hot” featuring Temple University Diamond Marching Band, Young Thug partnered with Kevin Liles to host the contest. Rapper and CEO of Entertainment 300 joined together for the “Hot” Battle of the Bands contest in which they invited the marching band from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to provide the best interpretation of the tracks on the social media platform ticktock.
Back in October 2019 they were together that the winner will get $ 25K in donations for their school music program, and according to a report by WXTL News in Tallahassee, Florida A & M Marching 100 has taken home the prize. Joint news station that 100 hopes to compete in the Honda Battle of the Bands in Atlanta this weekend, as well, where they might be able to bring home an extra $ 20K.
“We’re going to take this money and use it on the operations of our band,” says Band Director Dr. Shelby Chipman. “We will improve our uniforms, repair instruments, band operation, we have things ongoing recruitment.”
“If you’re a fan of HBCU bands, you must be a fan of the Marching 100,” said third-year student Matthew James. Members believe marching band adds, “It goes without saying we will win. There is no competition when it comes to 100.”
