NCDC driver reports positive for coronavirus in Nasarawa


Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi of Sule says the state has registered an additional confirmed coronavirus case, taking the number of reported cases to 12.

Sule made the disclosure in Lafia on Tuesday, during an extended state security meeting.

The governor said the person concerned is a driver with the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NSCDC), which carries test samples for the Abuja agency and has been infected in the process.

He said Tuesday morning the driver who resides in the state’s Local Government Area at Ado in Karu was declared positive.

The patient was moved to the isolation center at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi for treatment, according to the governor

The governor clarified that at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia and the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Keffi, all patients are currently receiving care.

He also said the state had taken delivery by National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of 6,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), 50,000 imported face mask and another 50,000 locally made face mask.

To stop the tide of the virus, he urged the state’s citizens to adhere to all government directives on COVID-19.
