During a photo session, an unidentified man beats the security of the President.
An named man charged with President Muhammadu Buhari in Kebbi State on Thursday, March 12, 2020, raising questions about the health of the number one citizen of Nigeria and the integrity of those watching over him.
The man wearing a traditional black outfit, made aggressively for President Buhari as he posed for photographs with Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu and other dignitaries, in the eight second clip that made the rounds and which was made available to Pulse shortly before midnight.
For the Agricultural Fair and Show, a part of the Argungu International Fishing Festival 2020, Buhari was at Birnin Kebbi.
Eyewitnesses are telling Pulse the man was wrestled to the ground and soon afterwards put into a police truck.
Femi Adesina, the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, dismissed the incident as a storm in a teacup; suggesting that the president’s man was an admirer and fan, and that the situation was far from a heckling.
“A young man was very excited to see the Argungu fishing festival as its leader. He made a handshake to walk straight towards him. This was stopped by security information. Now, people are passing it off opposite (sic) as an attempt to attack the president. How nasty it can be to some!” Said Adesina.
Security agencies of the nation have been closely leveraged on the identity or intentions of the person.
The presidential side of the story
In a statement he subsequently signed, Adesina said; “President Muhammadu Buhari was in Kebbi State on Thursday to announce the opening of the Argungu Fishing and Cultural Festival. It was the first time that the international tourism event will take place in eleven years, because security considerations made it impracticable.” He made a bid to get to him.
“This would not be permitted internationally by security details. The young man was stopped, and he insisted that he should be able to meet his president. Now, professional contortionists are manipulating the case. They are passing the video clip off on social media as an attempt to attack the president. But they just throw their heads at the wall. The country is moving on.”
