Kano state governor Abdullahi Ganduje has announced a one-day fasting and prayer in the state as part of the steps to avoid the spread of Coronavirus.
The governor said this while speaking at the inauguration of COVID-19 fund-raising committee on Sunday. Prayer is the strongest fire against COVID-19, he announced.
Ganduje has also pleaded in Kano with retired health workers to help the state fight the virus. Kano has yet to report any Coronavirus case.
Ganduje said: “As over 90 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Nigeria, Kano has yet to report a single case, hence the need for government to be up and do to contain the outbreak of the deadly disease,” Ganduje said.
“I call on the citizens of Kano to observe a fast tomorrow, (Monday) 30th March and 5th Sha’aban and pray hard against the coronavirus outbreak in our beloved state.
“I also call on people to strengthen their prayers because prayer for this disease is the best fuel. Though we aim to take preventive and curative steps to counter the coronavirus pandemic.
He noticed that this pandemic had created the committee to care for those lost by it.
“We agreed to set up a money raising committee to help those economically vulnerable mitigate the COVID-19 impacts.”
